I just couldn't stop experimenting with smoke and particles, yet. And now that I have some new video material, I've put together a second effects compilation including mixing smoke and ink effects amongst other things.

Coming Soon: Blender 2.5 Effects Compilation

I've been doing some experiments with Blender 2.55 Beta in the past few days. I'm especially testing the new smoke simulator, particle systems and indirect lighting. There are still some more things I want to try out, but after that I will upload a small video compilation of everything I've done. Here is a little teaser:

Don't expect some jaw dropping animations to come. I'm really just running some tests to evaluate the new possibilities with Blender 2.5.

The Hickening has won two awards

Another slightly delayed news:

The short movie The Hickening has won two awards at this years 'Abgedreht' filmfestival. Abgedreht is an annual youth amateur filmfestival in Weingarten, Germany. The topic of the festival was 24 hours. There were 24 video submissions, 7 of them were nominated for an award, there were 5 different awards, and we won 2 of them:

- The 'senior' award for participants over 18.

- The audience award decided by the vote of the audience.

A small picture of all the winners:

*Update* Generating virtual views for automotive systems

Finally: here is the promised video clip from the program I made and it took me only one and a half month to upload it... Sorry for that. You can watch the demo video here:

You should take a closer look at the car in the middle: it even reflects its environment. There was a live demo with real camera footage at the Electronica tradeshow in Munich last week. If I get some pictures from the live demo, I will upload them, too.
